Alot of it comes down to the driver. At the local track MAM I have a 91 NA with adjustable shocks, intake, cat back exhaust, and gutted cats. I finished 5-6 seconds behind a Lotus Elise on a 2.25 mile track. The driver of the elise was good too. I also ran a 14.9 Quarter mile without the JWT Intake and before I gutted my cats (cat back exhaust only). You can make a NA as fast if not faster than a Stock TT, but thats about as far as you can get without nitrous. For the money stick with the basics, Intake, full exhaust, suspension. If you wanted to go spend a bunch more money get a flywheel, underdrive pulley, and the like. Maintain the piss out of your car and take some time practicing launching your car and just shifting into the powerband at different cruising speeds. Ive heard of people tweaking their timing but it sounds kinda risky to me since thats what the ECU would do if you bought it anyways. Youd be suprised what a Z will run like when its maintained properly.
